Anthocyanins are a type of plant pigment that belongs to a larger group of compounds known as flavonoids. Typically, blue and red pigments in plants are influenced by anthocyanins such as cyanidin, which can be found in plant cell vacuums. The color of the anthocyanin pigment is usually related to the pH of the cell sap found in the duster. The cyanidin pigment is blue in a high pH solution, purple in a neutral solution and red in more acidic conditions. Combined with blue light in the action spectrum for pigment production, 400-500 nm Purpinator will cause the plant to produce more flavonoid compounds and anthocyanins, which will help the plant show more purple.
