Wondering why an electronic ballast is a good choice? The answer is simple - they are more efficient and quieter than their traditional counterparts, electromagnetic ballasts. Additionally, they emit less heat, which translates into user comfort.

What does "soft start" mean?

Electronic ballasts offer a "soft start" function, which effectively extends the lifespan of HPS bulbs. Unlike traditional ballasts, which need an initial hint of 680/700 watts to ignite a 600-watt HPS bulb, the electronic ballast only needs 600/620 watts.

How does it work?

The ignition process of an electronic ballast involves sending a low power level to the bulb and gradually increasing it. Within a few minutes, the bulb reaches full power without damage. This procedure is called a "soft start" and is used to minimize bulb damage while extending its "PAR lifespan".

What is "PAR lifespan"?

"PAR lifespan" is the period in which the consumption to PAR emission ratio (light actually used by the installation) achieves maximum efficiency. After a year of use, the PAR emission from the electronic ballast decreases by 20-25%, while in a traditional ballast it decays by about 50-60%.
